Celebrating 50 Years of Remarkable Bonds
The relations between Oman and Japan have grown from strength to strength for over 50 years. Built on the pillars of trust and mutual respect, the relationship between Oman and Japan have served as inspiring bonds that have continued to flourish year-after-year.
Under the wise and visionary leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik Al Said, the relations between Oman and Japan has received firm support and encouragement.
The Oman Japan Friendship Association (OJFA) works to promote greater bonds between the two countries. Over the years, the Association has conducted several cultural exchange programmes and paved the way for improving people-to-people contacts. Such initiatives have cultivated a sense of curiosity, encouraging people of both nations to learn more about the absorbing culture and heritage of both nations. These initiatives ranged from musical concerts to fashion shows, book fair, art exhibitions, cultural dances and much more.
Oman’s rich and inspiring culture and heritage have been a subject of interest among the people of Japan. Oman’s traditional and heart-warming hospitality continue to draw visitors from Japan to experience truly memorable moments. Similarly, among the people of Oman, Japan’s rich history and absorbing culture have continued to ignite interest and curiosity, besides being a delightful source of inspiration.
Keen to address the growing interest and eagerness among the people of Oman to learn the Japanese language, Oman Japan Friendship Association, in close association with Embassy of Japan, initiated the introduction of the Japanese language program in Oman. Since 2014, native Japanese language teachers started conducting classes to teach Japanese to people eager to learn the language.
Apart from cultural areas, Oman and Japan share strong economic relations too. As long-standing trading partners, Japan and Oman continue to benefit with each others strengths. Japan’s expertise in manufacturing has led to impressive imports of products like Machinery, Iron, Steel, Electronics, and Automotive to Oman. Similarly, Oil & Gas, aluminum and fishery products form a significant amount of exports from Oman to Japan.
Oman Vision 2040 launched by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik Al Said, is set to transform Oman into one of the most rapidly growing and diversified economies in the region. Oman is offering Japanese investors an opportunity to invest in potential and diverse areas including Maritime Logistics, Renewable Energy and Tourism through investments in joint ventures.
Similar to the last 50 years, the Oman Japan Friendship Association will continue to use every opportunity to nurture, strengthen and build lasting bonds between both Oman and Japan.
